Co-op orgasm

Friday, December 18, 2009

I’ve been checking out the future releases for the most promising co-op experiences and this is what I’ve got so far

Splinter Cell : Conviction 02.23.2010

Newly announced co-op mode people, this really got me going. The game actually presents a co-op campaign and will be around six hours long. The two players will assume the roles of two NSA agents, kicking some enemy ass together. The game is scheduled for release in February 23rd with a demo coming shortly before in January. Lately Ubisoft has been on a roll when it comes to the co-op experiences, I love the direction that the gaming world is going. IT’S FRICKIN GOING OLD-SCHOOL AGAIN!

Lost Planet 2 : 02.02.2010

Ahh the awesome game Lost Planet 2, in this game we actually get 4-player co-op. People have actually been saying that this game will be a little bit like Shadow of the Colossus but with teamwork. There will also be tons of great character customization available, I bet this game will present some really fun and intensive LAN-party moments.

Three of the players work on the creature from all sides while the fourth player, the one whose camera we are watching, works his way up the back of the creature. As the ground attack continues, the player starts hacking at the spikes on the creature’s back. The size of the creature, the simultaneous attacks happening from the ground, the constantly swaying field of grass, all combine to deliver a cinematic, epic moment in the game.

The developer climbs down the creatures back, moving around its giant feet to position himself in front of the creature. Then he jumps in its mouth and appears inside the creature. Inside this giant frog the player is surrounded by fluids and flesh. As he walks down what must be a throat you can see organs pulsating in the distance, beyond rows of bones, perhaps a rib cage. It’s an entire organic level.;

If that’s not epic I don’t know what is.

Crackdown 2 02.01.2010

I don’t know about you guys, but I had a blast with the first Crackdown, I played it together with friends and it was so much fun and everything I wanted with a co-op sandbox game. It feels like next year will be the year of the cooperative gameplay. The game will present four-player co-op and eight-player co-op in survival mode. Good stuff!

February is going to suck financially

Since all the games mentioned above will be released in February, I must press the need for everyone to save their christmas money for the co-op experiences we will experience in February. I’ll see you on the battlefield!

Mentionables

Kane & Lynch 2 (2 player co-op mode)
RAGE (2 player co-op mode)
Halo Reach (maybe a 6-player co-op mode)
