Gaming Weekly W2: Dark Void
Tuesday, January 12, 2010Yeah I know I’ve been a little lazy since New Years, but hey I thought that I could start of the year with a pretty decent looking game. On January 22th Dark Void is coming to Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC. The game is developed by Airtight Games and published by Capcom and is running on the Unreal Engine 3 for some really sweet looking visuals.
Taking third-person shooters to the air

Dark Void is a third-person shooter, what makes Dark Void different though is the slick aerial combat. The game centers around the cargo pilot William Augustus Grey who crashes into the mysterious Bermuda Triangle, some bad mojo happens and he is teleported to a parallel universe where he encounters other humans called Survivors. Together with the other humans William must battle the Watchers, an alien race to be able to return to Earth.
The main game-mechanic of this game is probably the jetpack, the jetpack allows players to fight on the ground as well as in the air, therefore the game will also feature a pretty sweet cover-system that lets the player take cover on the ground but also in on a vertical level when climbing mountains and what not.

Dark Void offers the usual third-person action, however together with the flight-mechanic it could be an interesting game, for me it will probably not be a priority though seeing that Mass Effect 2 is just around the corner, I’ll probably save this one for the dry season. But for you guys interested in solid third-person action experiences well then this game might be for you.
Airtight Games
Airtight Games is an independent video game developer founded in 2004, made up from several former members of bigger studios, their biggest project is this game, Dark Void. In the past however they created the portfolio pieces for Ageia PhysX so I bet we will see some interesting stuff in Dark Void.
